| Monday morning blues (or in today's case, grey). Badgered this morning with questions (some extremely idiotic!) about the Microsoft Vista and Office launch I attended on Friday. What can I say! I was impressed with some and not so with others. Must admit though, I think their sales side have done quite a bit to package it all as a NEW product! Some areas of Office tools not so chuffed - it's like having rocket technology available as a tool (sorry, ribbon) in Excel! One click and you can have your own Airbus! All calcs done for you. Otherwise, from a developer angle, lots of potential and pretttttty flexible. Weekend was a bit of a damper (and I'm not talking about the weather). Arranged for a few visits but had to cancel or cut short some of them. Either visitee's ill or some member of their family ill. Tried helping them out (you know, did their weekend shopping, started their weekend washing, walked their dog, and the like) but got out from under their feet. They're all grateful but then, what are friends for, eh? Thought of washing car but rain made the Mexican car wash more attractive. You know, wash car in the rain! Still manage my usual exercises. Age must be catching up on me. I feel as though I running faster but the stopwatch says different. I'm sure Time has got it in for me! Also read my nieces blogs. Very interesting! They are not telling me everything. [Memo to self: Device a tortuous method of extracting these details when I next see them.] Anyway, got to do some work Just saw Sharapova win her match. Good for her! Murray and Nadal - All square. Too early to say. | | |
| After what seems like eons, I've put my fingers (only two, not a touch typist yet) to keyboard to express what I'm doing. Not much really. Works slow i.e. lots of thinking with small spurts of activity. You see I'm a IT systems architect. Lots of planning, scribbling, chucking unsatisfactory designs into dustbins - yes, plural. Then clickety, click. Go, go, go Also foremost in my mind are Xmas presents for friends. What should I land them with this year? Nope, mustn't be distracted. Besides I've a fair idea what they're getting anyway! Not listening to anything. Silence is my scene. In fact, this blog is a walkaway from a never ending problem I'm having - convincing my users I'm giving them what they want!! I feel a surge of inspiration coming on. Thinking out loud: One of my many lovely nieces appears lost without her camera ('Thing' is in Chicago with her dad). Wonder if she'd like her own. I wonder...... Anyhow, back to the grindstone before this idea goes out of my head | | |
